About the Author
Dwight L. Wilson is a Quaker who has held many positions: educator, administrator, religious leader and social activist. In each role he worked to advance equality, opportunity and understanding. His carefully researched historical fiction series Esi Was My Mother includes six volumes: Sarah’s Song, Out of the Shadow of Darkness, The Cloud’s Whisper, The Courtship of Queens, River Woman Joined at the Heart and The Lion and the Lamb. They follow the lives of an enslaved black family from being kidnapped in 18th century Africa to the American Civil War. Triumphant black stories make history come alive for readers.
